Getting there
Reaching Buziaș from Timișoara
Buziaș sits about 35 kilometres east of Timișoara, a small town that grew around its mineral springs in the nineteenth century. The journey is straightforward but not frequent, so planning matters. Trains run from Timișoara Nord several times a day, taking around 45 minutes to an hour on the regional line towards Lugoj. By car, the route follows DN6 east, turning north at Buziaș; the drive takes about 40 minutes in normal traffic. Buses also connect the two towns, but services are sparse and mainly useful for the morning outward and late afternoon return.
08:00
Timișoara Nord station
Buy a return ticket to Buziaș at the counter or from the machine. Regional trains are basic but reliable. Check the display for the platform — usually 2 or 3 for this line.

Main spa facilities
Baths, treatments, and the colonnade
The spa at Buziaș is not a luxury resort but a functional health establishment with a long history. The core is the covered mineral water pool and the treatment rooms for physiotherapy and rheumatology. The water is rich in calcium, magnesium, and bicarbonate, and is used both for drinking cures and for bathing. The main building dates from the late nineteenth century and has a grand colonnade where visitors take the waters in the traditional manner. Facilities are modest but well maintained; do not expect fluffy robes and scented candles.
10:15
Reception and booking
Ask for the current price list. A single bath in the mineral pool is inexpensive; a course of physiotherapy requires a doctor's referral and advance booking. English is spoken but not always fluently.

10:30
Mineral water pool
The covered pool is the centrepiece. The water is warm and slightly salty. Lanes are not strict; locals swim slowly and chat. Showers and lockers are basic but clean.

Park and promenade
Walking the historic park
The park at Buziaș is the reason many visitors return. It was laid out in the nineteenth century as a promenade for spa guests, with winding paths, old trees, and a small lake. The scale is intimate — you can walk every path in an hour — but it rewards lingering. The main axis runs from the spa building to the lake, with side paths branching off into quieter corners. Benches are plentiful, and on warm days the shade is welcome. The park is free to enter and is used by locals as much as by visitors.
13:00
Main promenade
Start at the spa entrance and walk straight towards the lake. The path is lined with mature chestnuts and lindens. Plaques identify some of the older trees.

A small statue of a water nymph marks the original spring site. It is weathered but still legible. A good spot for a photograph.

The park opens out into a meadow with fruit trees and a view towards the hills. This is the quietest part; bring a book or a picnic.

Half-day visit
A compressed morning or afternoon
If you have only half a day, you can still get a sense of Buziaș without rushing. The trick is to arrive early or stay late, and to focus on either the spa or the park rather than both in depth. Half a day is enough for one treatment, a short walk, and a meal. The town itself has little else to offer, so do not plan to fill hours elsewhere. This itinerary assumes a morning arrival and early afternoon departure.

Full-day visit
A fuller immersion
A full day allows you to combine a treatment, a proper walk, and a meal without watching the clock. You can also explore the edges of the park and the small town, which has a few remnants of its Austro-Hungarian past. The pace should be slow; Buziaș is not a place for ticking off sights. This itinerary assumes a mid-morning arrival and a late afternoon departure, with time to sit and do nothing. Bring a hat and water in summer, as shade is not continuous.
10:00
Arrive and orient
Get off the train and walk to the park. Stop at the spa reception for a map and to book a treatment for later in the day. Morning slots fill quickly.
Free
10:30
